shelbe chang

Shelbe Chang was born in Taipei, Taiwan and came to the US at the age of 12. She was raised in Orange County, California. Growing up, Shelbe had a dream to be in the entertainment industry as an actor, director, and screenwriter. Therefore, she chose to major in Communication Arts – Film/TV & Photography in college. During her college years, she did some background and extra work as a hobby. In 1994 she auditioned for TVB Hong Kong New Talent Singing Contest. It was this exposure where Shelbe gained her starting experience in the entertainment world. After college, she worked at a Chinese TV Network company as an editor for 2 years, and then exited the entertainment business until 2012. Shelbe began modeling/acting and became heavily involved with the transgender community. In 2013, she expanded her talent as a contributing writer for Transformation Magazine, and created a production company called Transflix.

Since her re-entry into entertainment, Shelbe has been cast for multiple roles in indie films, including LA Willy Nilly, The Journey, and Wifi Killer. She can also be seen in Taken By Trees’ Only You music video. As a model, Shelbe has collaborated with many talented photographers, done the catwalk for Britboy Fashions, and was featured in an article on Model Mayhem. In 2013, she was nominated for MOTHA Art Awards in Performer of the Year and New/Upcoming Artist of the Year categories.

Shelbe is extremely grateful and appreciative for the opportunities given to pursue her dreams. Both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, her goal is to empower transgender voices and raise awareness of transgender lives through acting, dialogue, and photography.
